PTC Therapeutics, Inc

PTC has been successful over the years because our team is deeply committed to a single purpose: Extending life’s moments for patients with rare diseases and their loved ones. Our biggest accomplishments have always been measured by units of time – or “measured by moments.” Whether our therapies grant hours, days, months or years, every small moment is an enormous win.
Our Therapeutic Focus
Since 1998, PTC has been a biopharmaceutical company focused on innovative small molecule and gene therapies for rare genetic disorders. We operate offices and/or research labs in more than 20 countries and occupy a business footprint in more than 50 countries around the world. We also enjoy strong commercial performance and a robust capital position. Recently, we’ve expanded into oncology and virology therapeutic research.
Information for Investors
Our PTC work culture – though spread across the globe – is unified by several key employee expectations, all of which point back toward our mission to bring moments of life to patients with rare disorders and their families. The tenets of our corporate social responsibility initiatives are rooted in our commitment to patient advocacy, drug access and scientific advancement.
“I never wanted us to operate like the bigger pharma companies. To me, the ideal work environment is one where great minds collaborate to accomplish great things, where employees are as much family as they are colleagues, where nothing is taken at face value and rigorous debate helps push our research to higher levels. Every day, I consider myself incredibly lucky to come in and stand alongside such brilliant minds.”
PTC Founder and CEO, Stuart Peltz, Ph.D.
PTC Therapeutics: A Brief History of Innovation
Stu Peltz founded PTC Therapeutics as a mission-focused company in 1998. He had always been interested in RNA biology, which he viewed as a wide-open field for exploration. He also believed that if we could better understand how single strand RNA – a virtual “messenger” between DNA and other particles within cells, we could use that knowledge to develop new medicines.
PTC achieved historic breakthroughs in treating the rare disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 2003, and has continued to grow and evolve ever since. Through strategic acquisitions and unparalleled scientific research, our team of “brilliant minds” is “measured by moments” brought to patients and caregivers who face rare disease challenges like Duchenne, aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency, Huntington’s disease, spinal muscular atrophy and many more.
At PTC, Diversity, Respect and Passion Are Expected
PTC has established a Global Outreach Steering Committee to focus on company-wide volunteer and giving opportunities. We have also established multiple diversity business resource groups that allow people to find strength and stability with their teammates. We host monthly programs to accentuate our diverse culture, each managed by a member of the Executive Committee.
We have built a strong talent management program for leadership training throughout the organization. Additionally, we hold all employees accountable to the same standards and expectations of behavior.
Living the PTC Values
At PTC, we ask our employees to model six expectations that shape every aspect of our work:
- We are passionate about our purpose
- We champion inclusion, trust and respect
- We work as one PTC
- We are bold
- We think like an entrepreneur
- We strive to be ever better
We endeavor to be a team of passionate, caring, brave, ambitious entrepreneurs. We rely on our leaders to set an example of this. One such leader – the person who heads up our human resources (HR) team as Senior Vice President – vibrantly embodies each of these expectations.
Careers with Purpose
We look at drug discovery and development in a completely different way.We use cutting-edge technologies and groundbreaking research techniques to develop therapies for patients living with serious and life-threatening conditions, such as rare genetic disorders and cancer.
We combine our scientific expertise with a patient-centric treatment approach to create a wholly new way of addressing rare disease.
