The Water/Wastewater (W/WW) Practice is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer in Salt Lake City.The primary focus for this position will be to serve as Senior Engineer and/or Project Manager for a wide variety of municipal water and wastewater projects.

Additionally, this position will require the candidate to utilize their expertise in water/wastewater engineering related to transportation projects, including, but not limited to: water system conveyance design; water system storage; sanitary conveyance design (gravity and pumped systems); hydraulic modeling analysis; preparation of water and wastewater infrastructure feasibility studies and master plans; preparation of engineering and construction plans, specifications and estimates; and coordination with regulatory agencies for project permitting. The successful candidate will be required to cooridnate with utility companies on behalf of transportation clients with a focus on utility relocations due to transportation related projects.

The position will report directly to the Utah Water/Wastewater Group Leader or Utah Market Leader.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and contribute to the growth of our WEBU team in Utah.

  • Responsible for planning, designing, and leading a wide range of municipal water/wastewater projects, as described above.

  • Serve as Senior Engineer, Project Manager, and/or Engineer of Record, collaborating with a team of support professionals, including, but not limited to drafters, EITs, GIS technicians, and technical editors.

  • Opportunity to coach and mentor entry-level staff.

  • Interface with clients, third party utility companies, and public agencies.

  • Assistance in business development efforts (e.g., engagement in professional organizations and visibility efforts), preparing proposals and participating in interviews as needed.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in UT (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).

  • 10 - 15 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater engineering with general civil design experience (utility coordination and design is a plus).

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal designs standards.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with public agencies.

  • Background in AutoCAD (GIS is a plus but not required).

  • Technical memorandum and report writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience as a water/wastewater design engineer with general civil and water resource design experience.

  • Experience working with water conservation districts in Utah, local public works departments and secondary water companies and other local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.Experience with utility coordination on transportation projects.

  • Experience with Utah Department of Transportation project delivery process.

  • Background in OpenRoads Designer software

  • Water/wastewater market business development experience in Utah

  • Existing local client relationships are a plus but not required.
