The Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit is seeking a remote LiDAR Data Extraction Technician.

A typical day of a LiDAR data extractor is project and delivery focused. Our remote sensing team would provide data sets with images and calibrated point cloud data for the team member to evaluate and check before starting extraction in a consistent and methodical way, extracting primarily in TopoDOT but also other programs to produce line work for Open Roads MicroStation, Civil3D Autodesk and other software packages as projects require. Providing updates on progress and attending project kickoff meetings designed to communicate customer expectations and solicit team member feedback on the best ways to ensure our customers' expectations are met.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Keep up with current technology and changes to the software programs used
  • Analyze materials to produce the survey according to the scope
  • Following checklist throughout the performance of each project
  • Extracting linework and features from point clouds utilizing TopoDot software
  • Willingness to learn
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in geospatial technology, surveying, GIS, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience in a geospatial or survey specialty.
  • 2-8 years of combined education and experience supporting geospatial, survey, or GIS workflows, depending on level.
  • Working knowledge of GIS software and geospatial data concepts, including imagery and point cloud data processing (MicroStation ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, TopoDOT).
  • Ability to support or perform data collection, processing, analysis, and quality assurance while adhering to established standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work under direct to limited supervision from a Surveyor or technical expert and contribute to geospatial applications and databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification or progress toward professional credentials such as LSIT, CST (Office Level II-IV), or GIS Professional (GISP).
  • Experience with remote sensing operations, including mission planning, data acquisition, and processing.
  • Experience using advanced or non-traditional geospatial technologies such as scanning, modeling, or AI-assisted data analysis.
