Summary:

Responsible for coordinating and administering the credentialing process for medical practitioners, ensuring that all credentialing and accreditation processes and procedures are processed and completed in accordance with established regulatory, quality and policy requirement; provides support to the System Credentials and Medical Staff Organization.

Qualifications:

  • Some college preferred. High school graduate considered with experience in this field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in a credentialing or medical staff services department.

  • In lieu of experience in Credentialing or Medical Staff Services department, an Associate degree or higher may be considered with consistent work history.

  • Familiar with NCQA and Joint Commission Standards.

  • Proficiency with computer systems, networks and software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheet and Internet required.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Must have ability and interest to deal tactfully with physicians and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters.

  • Should agree to pursue Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist professional designation when eligibility requirements are met.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Willing to obtain Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager (CPMSM) certification when eligibility requirements are met.
