Overview

Reporting to the Vice President, US Market Access, the Field Reimbursement Lead will optimize access to Alnylam products through managing a national Field Reimbursement team. This position requires a professional who can leverage his/her technical expertise and demonstrated leadership experience to lead team members in identifying, understanding and addressing reimbursement and patient access challenges.

A key component of this role is the ability to establish collaborative relationships with Field Sales, Patient Services, Market Access, Strategic Accounts, Marketing and Operations colleagues to drive enhanced patient access for Alnylam therapies.

This individual must have a deep understanding of how government and commercial payers cover and reimburse medicines under the medical benefit and the proven ability to lead teams that appropriately educate stakeholders to support patient access.

Specifically, extensive knowledge of "buy and bill" products and prior launch experience with high-touch, specialty/orphan products in the "buy and bill" model is essential. A deep understanding of the medical benefit, pharmacy benefit and home health dynamics is required. Additionally, prior experience and high confidence in supporting patient access in health systems and alternative sites of care is essential.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of provider access and reimbursement education and issue management for Alnylam's portfolio of therapies.
  • Continuously analyze and refine performance metrics to ensure team is performing at a high level.
  • Communicate regularly with cross-functional leadership to seek feedback on team priorities and performance, provide proactive updates and seek innovative new initiatives to help patients access Alnylam therapies.
  • Develop access and reimbursement educational materials to ensure both colleague and customer knowledge about product-specific access and reimbursement dynamics.
  • Collaborates seamlessly with Patient Services leaders to facilitate exceptional access experience for HCPs and patients.
  • Partner with Public Policy team on engagement strategies and tactics regarding Medicare Administrative Contractor or local policy changes as well as state-level public policy initiatives.
  • Maintain an environment of engagement and growth to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Ensures compliance with all corporate and industry policies in collaboration with Alnylam Legal, Regulatory and Compliance.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree required.
  • MBA or other advance degree/relevant certifications preferred.
  • 15+ years of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • 10+ years of field experience in Reimbursement, Payer Relations/Account Management required.
  • 5+ years management experience of Field Reimbursement teams.
  • Experience and proven success in working with and interacting with HCPs, KOLs, Health Systems, and alternate sites of care.
  • Experience in developing access and reimbursement educational materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel 50-70% as necessary.
