Paralegal

Job Summary

Paralegals support lawyers in the preparation and organization of various legal documents for cases and trials. They are responsible for drafting legal documents, discussing case details with attorneys and clients, and managing files for various legal proceedings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Legal Research: Conducting research on legal cases and laws relevant to their client's case.
  • Drafting Legal Documents: Preparing legal papers documents such as pleadings, contracts, briefs, and motions.
  • Case Management: Organizing and maintaining case files, including legal documents, correspondence, and other relevant materials.
  • Client Communication: Communicating with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in the case.
  • Discovery: Assisting with the discovery process by gathering and reviewing documents and other evidence.
  • Trial Preparation: Preparing for trials by organizing exhibits, preparing witnesses, and coordinating with other members of the legal team.
  • Administrative Support: Providing administrative support such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and processing paperwork.

Paralegals may work in a variety of settings, including law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. They must have excellent communication, organizational, and research skills, as well as a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
