Job Summary
A fabricator is a skilled worker who transforms raw materials into finished products by cutting, shaping, and assembling various parts using specialized tools and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Reviewing blueprints, sketches, and project specifications to understand the design requirements
- Selecting appropriate materials such as metal, plastic, or wood for the project
- Cutting and shaping materials using specialized tools such as saws, drills, and grinders
- Welding and soldering parts together to form the final product
- Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet the required standards and specifications
- Maintaining and repairing tools and equipment used in the fabrication process
- Collaborating with team members such as designers, engineers, and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Fabricators work in a variety of industries such as construction, automotive, and manufacturing, and they play a critical role in ensuring that the products meet the required specifications and standards. In addition to technical skills, fabricators must be able to read blueprints, follow instructions, and communicate effectively with team members.
