Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

CDD's Early Childhood Home and Family Services Division consists of a cluster of direct service, Early Intervention and home visiting programs. The FOCUS Program provides integrated comprehensive medical care for families impacted by substance use, home-based early intervention and Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and trauma-informed assessment and treatment services. The Unit also provides FAN (Facilitating Attuned Interactions) trainings around the state to early childhood programs.

This Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support functions of the program in collaboration with program staff. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Program Specialist to oversee records maintenance and organization, data and reporting requirements, scheduling and organizational needs of the program.

This position will serve as the administrative support for direct service staff, coordinating training and development needs for the team. Duties will also include processing travel, Pcard purchasing and financial reconciliation, and dissemination of training materials and resources. Additionally, this Administrative Assistant will also collaborate with other administrative staff members within the Specialized Early Childhood Programs Unit to support the day-to-day operations within the unit.

  • Familiarity of diverse communities including those of individuals with developmental disabilities, communities in need, and high-risk families;
  • Experience working in a related field serving diverse and challenging clients;
  • Ability to be flexible while staying professional and positive in a changing environment.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting administrative functions and/or services in a early intervention, home visiting, pediatric health care settings, or community-based programs.

Excellent skills and experience with supporting training initiatives for early childhood programs or initiatives, organizing resources, database management, service input, and scrutinization of data reports.

Understanding of complex administrative functions required for programs within the Family Infant Toddler (FIT) Program.

Strong skills with Microsoft Office including database applications.

Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI regulations.

Some college education.

Spanish speaking.

Experience with FIT-KIDS database and/or experience with early intervention billing.



Additional Requirements
This position will require passing a background check with fingerprinting.
