Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Office of Institutional Planning, Assessment, and Research ( IPAR) is directed by the Associate Provost for IPAR, who reports to the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. IPAR facilitates university-wide academic planning, strategic planning, space planning, assessment, and evaluation activities and supports institutional decision-making. IPAR collects, analyzes, warehouses, and disseminates data about East Carolina University, serving as the University's primary contact with The University of North Carolina System Office, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on College ( SACSCOC), and other external constituencies in meeting the data, reporting, and compliance requirements established by these various agencies/bodies.
Job Duties
The position is a part-time temporary position (.625 FTE/25 hours per week) for a term beginning January 1, 2025 with initial appointment up to 1.5 years from the start date.

The position serves as the project manager at IPAR who supports grant activities and selected analytics projects.


  • Duties Related to RACING AHEAD Grant (80%)
    Responsible for independent and collaborative development, implementation, and analysis of data associated with an NIH STRONG Research Infrastructure U Award - RACING AHEAD (Research-focused Assessment of Capacity, Institutional Needs and Growth strategies to Advance Health Equity and Address Disparities). The position will aid with project management, including communication within the team (e.g., emails, SharePoint/Teams site, minutes), campus-wide communications (e.g., graphics design, postings to listservs, RACING AHEAD website maintenance). The position will help coordinate focus groups, surveys, monthly meetings, and annual retreats. Duties will also include literature review, report writing, supervision of a graduate student, oversight over data collection procedures, review of data for quality control, data entry, analysis of data from mixed methods approaches, and development of presentations. The individual is expected to demonstrate compliance with established guidelines and regulatory standards for research including responsible conduct of research and human subjects training.



  • IPAR Analytics Projects (20%)
    Providing oversight and coordination for selected analytics projects at IPAR. Duties include providing guidance and consultation with ECU's Peer Study; validating data and providing feedback to UNC System-wide studies related to program productivity and workforce/societal needs of the state; reviewing data and tracking institutional metrics as related to the UNC System Performance-Based Funding Model; monitoring ECU rankings and participating in ECU's College Guide and Ranking Publication Workgroup, etc.
This position is contingent upon available funding.
Minimum Education/Experience

  • Master's degree earned from an accredited institution
  • Strong data analytics skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work-groups
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Prior training and experience with project/program management
  • Prior strategic planning experience
  • Prior health disparities research experience
  • Prior experience in institutional research and assessment
