Join Our Team as a Health & Safety Intern!

Are you passionate about health and safety? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Safety & Environmental Services function. As a Health & Safety Intern, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

Join our Global Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability (HSE&S) team! As part of the Health & Safety group, you'll help us achieve our health & safety goals by analyzing data, performing audits and inspections, conducting sampling and research, assisting in team member outreach, and creating insightful reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Audits & Inspections: Perform manufacturing area audits and inspections for key Health & Safety parameters including emergency response equipment, proper use of PPE, workplace ergonomics, and chemical hygiene safety.
• Data Management: Upload and enter health and safety data for all S&C locations; assist with compliance related data collection, tracking, and reporting; assist in industrial hygiene sampling, creating monthly performance dashboards specific to our production operations departments.
• Research & Benchmarking: Hunt for trends and opportunities in our health and safety data and incident investigations, assist in executing personal protective equipment trials and rollouts, research and summarize new programs and/or equipment to improve areas of health, safety, and ergonomics.
• Production Operations Work & Event Support: Assist with our operations-based Safety Action Teams to advance information sharing and team member engagement, support onsite safety & environmental audits, network with folks in our manufacturing, maintenance and laboratory operations; help organize Health & Safety outreach events.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

• Must be in good standing as a student at the Bachelor's degree level at an accredited university majoring in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering/Chemistry, Life Sciences or related field and returning to school full-time at the end of the internship.
• Comfortable commuting and working onsite at S&C HQ in Rogers Park, Chicago, IL.
• Ability to work Full-Time in Summer 2025 for a minimum of 10 weeks.
• Good project management skills, with attention to detail regarding deliverables and time tables
• Excellent computer, software knowledge
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to simultaneously handle a variety of HSE&S projects

Preferred:

• Prior manufacturing and/or Health & Safety internship/co-op experience a plus
