Job Summary |
The Auburn University College of Agriculture seeks candidates for an Administrative Support Assistant to provide general clerical support at the AU Soil, Forage, and Water Test Lab.
The Soil, Forage and Water Testing Lab at Auburn University serves the farming communities of Alabama through testing and analysis of a variety of agricultural materials, including soil, water, plant tissue, poultry litter, forages and feeds. This research testing laboratory also serves the citizens of Alabama by providing routine testing, commercial testing, and analysis of soil and tissue samples from lawns and gardens, as well as water from households, wells and other water resources.

Essential Functions |
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Sort mail and packages daily for entire building.
- Answer phone for Soil Testing and Plant Diagnostic Lab (Answer questions on how to submit samples; look up results for both Soil Testing and Plant Diagnostics; refer specific questions to local County Extension Offices; forward calls to appropriate person in building.
- Direct traffic in ALFA Building and keep a log of people entering and leaving the building and assisting visitors to find who they came to see.
- Provide professional customer service (Assist clientele fill out correct paperwork; accept samples for Soil Testing and Plant Diagnostics; collect payments for samples).
- Maintain schedule for ALFA conference room.
- Data entry for Plant Diagnostics and Soil testing as time allows.
- Assist faculty and staff in ALFA building with shipments and work orders.
- Assist Extension Specialists in the ALFA building with archiving receipts or travel documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Level I: High school diploma or equivalent; no experience required
Level II: High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in clerical support services.
Degrees may substitute for years of experience. |

Basic knowledge of standard office equipment and procedures. |
