General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking for an Environmental Specialist for its Crystal Springs, MS Location.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Advance the maturity of the sites environmental and sustainability programs.
  • Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and develop risk reduction strategies.
  • Develop and coordinate environmental and sustainability improvement projects in collaboration with other site resources. This may include leading a collaborative improvement team. This may include preparing capital expenditure proposals and project management.
  • Lead or collaborate on projects to Reduce - Refurbish/Repair - Recycle - Reuse - Rethink.
  • Support the organization in fulfilling legal, Hitachi Energy, Hitachi Group, customer, ISO 14001, and local community requirements.
  • Supporting line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, responsibilities and how to carry out their roles in accordance with them.
  • Manage key environmental programs: Waste, DOT/HAZMAT, wastewater, stormwater, Tier report, EIQ, TRI, Title V (air permit), SPCC, SPWWW, spill response and other emergency plans.
  • Fulfill reporting requirements and be the key contact for environmental related government agencies.
  • Coordinate waste handling and shipment.
  • Track and report environmental metrics.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of the site.
  • Participate in site strategic planning, goal setting, and monthly review meetings.
  • Assist with investigation of environmental incidents and action follow-up.
  • Assist with remediation at the site.
  • Collaborate and share best practices across the other sites in North America and globally.
  • Monitor and communicate regarding proposed legislation, legislation updates, and corporate policy updates.
  • Identify and coordinate or conduct training relevant to environmental and sustainability programs.
  • Manage contractors that support projects and compliance programs.
