The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to join our team for a project focused on neural stem cells, 3D bioprinting, and developing advanced cancer models for brain and ovarian cancer. This project will focus on exploring and developing new treatments for cancer. A key part of this work will be the development of novel biomaterial matrices and treatment of post-surgical disease.

PhD

The successful candidate should have expertise in the following areas:
Neural Stem Cell Biology: Proficiency in stem cell culture, differentiation protocols, and characterization techniques.
3D Bioprinting: Experience in bioprinting or tissue engineering, with knowledge of hydrogel systems and biofabrication.
Cancer Modeling: Experience with in vitro and in vivo cancer models, ideally with a focus on brain or ovarian cancer.
Molecular and Cellular Techniques: Skilled in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy.
Surgical Techniques: Familiarity with small animal surgeries, tissue resection, and implantation strategies.
Data Analysis and Communication: Strong track record of scientific publication and the ability to present complex data clearly.

The ideal candidate will be self-driven, collaborative, and capable of advancing this interdisciplinary research project through independent contributions and teamwork..

Particular preference will be given to candidates with experience in culturing and manipulating cells, application of delivery systems for cancer treatment, small animal surgery, and use of unique cancer model systems. Additionally, general experience in any of the following disciplines is strongly preferred: cancer biology, polymer chemistry, microscopy, and in vivo animal studies. Applicants should have a strong publication record, creative thinking, effective oral and written communication skills, and good team spirit.
