IRC BACKGROUND:

The IRC-Wichita office has been providing services to newly arrived refugees since 2011. The IRC-Wichita office serves refugees and immigrants by providing resettlement and placement, family strengthening services through trauma informed care, economic empowerment, youth and adult education and immigration services provided by a Department of Justice accredited legal representative. The IRC helps those in need to rebuild their lives and regain control of their future in their new home.

SCOPEOFWORK:

The Education Manager manages the full portfolio of IRC Wichita's Education services to eligible school-aged children and adults. Adult education services and programs currently include English Language Training (ELT), Service for Older Refugees (SOR), Vocational English Language Training (VELT), and Digital Inclusion.

Youth services include Refugee School Impact (RSI), Early School Impact (ERSI) and ReConnect Youth Mentoring (RYM) programs which provides parent education and coordination supporting their adaptation to the Wichita Public School System in partnership with schools, afterschool, summer programming, and youth mentoring. The Education Manager engages actively with the community, clients and the IRC Wichita team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Design and Management

  • Plan for the overall department and its programs in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Ensure all programmatic, contractual, and donor requirements and IRC standards of care are met.
  • With input from the Deputy Director and program staff, establish and implement annual and long-term goals and objectives to successfully achieve outcomes related to Adult and Youth Education services.
  • Monitor program goals and take appropriate intervening action to ensure contractual compliance and goal attainment.
  • Collaborate with technical advisors to design and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework in order to evaluate program success and create replicable models for working with youth and adults.
  • Participate in relevant IRC network-wide initiatives to understand and share best-practices relating to Wichita's programming.
  • Guarantee accurate and timely financial and client-related recordkeeping throughout the department, including the use of ETO and other data systems.
  • Ensure oversight and monitoring of case files for proper file documentation.
  • In coordination with the Finance Manager, develop and monitor department, program, and grant budgets.

People Management

  • Supervise, coach, and support the development of Education team members in accordance with IRC's People Manager Standards.
  • Provide career development and learning opportunities to Education team members to build the service delivery leadership strengths of all within the department.
  • Proactively engage with community organizations in resource development and community partnerships through grant writing, external stakeholder meetings and opportunities to improve practice.
  • Collaborate with the IRC in Wichita resource development team and executive director to create and implement a plan for continued program funding.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in education, social services or related field;
  • At least four years' experience in program design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation;
  • Grant writing and proposal development experience;
  • Experience developing and managing budgets desired;
  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC's core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC's work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; Bi-lingual abilities in a refugee language helpful;
  • Superior time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work as a team leader and team member in a cross-cultural environment;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook;);
  • Able to occasionally work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends;
  • Valid driver's license, access to vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
