Job Summary

Assists the Managing Attorney and Data Manager in the daily operation of the Clinical Program. Works closely with multiple (6) attorney in case preparation and drafting of legal documents. Provides administrative and operational support to the Sr Associate Dean of Experiential Learning and the Director of Externships and Pro Bono Programs.

  • Provides administrative and operational support to the experiential learning programs (clinics, externship and pro bono).
  • Provides paralegal support to attorneys including but not limited to family, guardianship, immigration, social security, business cases, litigation and transactional legal matters.
  • Engage experiential learning faculty, administration and staff in evaluating existing administrative and support systems and implementing process improvement initiatives where needed to ensure efficiency, strong customer service, and maximum productivity.
  • Interacts with the legal community and law students, including answering client questions on the phone and/or in person, in a linguistically and culturally competent manner. Provides client referrals to other non-profit organizations, legal aid and legal services offices.
  • In collaboration with the Sr. Associate Dean, annually collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve experiential learning programmatic goals and outcomes.
  • In collaboration with the CLIO Case Manager, maintains master calendar/docket of relevant deadlines and informs attorneys and students of schedules and deadlines.
  • Organizes and maintains all case files, and information concerning engagement, whether electronic or paper. Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting conferences.
  • Approves expenditures and financial transactions by verifying purchasing cards and expenses, monitoring and supporting litigation needs including transcript requests, court filing fees, procurements of case records, etc.
  • Prepares student-facing recruitment and informational materials, update and manage experiential learning programs website. Works with the Managing attorney in the creation of project planning and collection of data for monthly reporting.
  • Serves as administrative backup to Sr. Associate Dean, as needed, administering and managing the FIU Law Path to Legal Profession Program.
  • Works collaboratively with the Sr. Associate Dean to develop a cohesive and supportive administrative structure for experiential learning programming, project, and task delivery.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree OR paralegal certification, AND a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a law firm, in-house legal department, compliance department or related field; OR seven (7) years of relevant experience AND a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a law firm, in-house legal department, compliance department or related field; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Law Firm or Office Administration/Project Management work experience.
