The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Teaching Professor position in Dance within the Theatre & Dance program, beginning fall 2025. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, choreographing, program and school-level service, and academic mentoring.

The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University offers a wide array of degree programs in the visual and performing arts. The Theatre & Dance Program within the School of the Arts offers the B.F.A. in Theatre Performance with tracks in Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance Performance, Dance Pedagogy, and Playwrighting, a B.F.A. in Theatrical Design and Technology with tracks in Theatrical Design and Technology or Stage Management. The program produces two or three musicals, two or three plays, and one dance concert annually for a total of six mainstage productions. Season extras include a First Year Student Showcase, and student produced productions in the studio theatre, including the annual Emerging Choreographer's Showcase. Teach four undergraduate courses per semester, with one of those courses reassigned when choreographing/artistic directing a main-stage dance concert or musical theatre production. Teach within various levels of dance technique seminars and courses, including choreography, dance pedagogy, and dance history. Secondary teaching responsibilities may include dance physiology, company management, dance appreciation, or other courses as assigned. The Theatre & Dance program is open to innovative and broad skill sets that may benefit our program in unexpected ways

Applicants should possess a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. Candidates with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre and exceptional commensurate experience in dance performance/choreography may be considered. Successful applicants will demonstrate the potential for a successful career in teaching and for distinction in professional artistic activity and/or research. Successful teaching and recruiting experience at the university level and significant experience as a dance performer, choreographer, and teacher is required.
Additionally, the candidate must remain current within the discipline and apply continued knowledge towards course instruction, provide mentorship along with fellow faculty to dance and theatre students.
