Position Summary:

The Test Technician I will perform testing functions and create simple reports in the execution of basic complexity test plans. This is an entry-level position that draws on prior firearms experience, technical, and creative skills to test firearms in accordance with developed standards. This position will work in a fast paced, dynamic, team environment within the Research and Development department to provide technical and operational support in the completion of assigned projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Safely and effectively operates test equipment according to manuals, work instructions, or industry standards.
  • Follows simple documented test plans to execute testing of firearms, ammunition, or accessories as assigned.
  • Documents raw test data and creates simple written test reports to SIG SAUER INC standards as assigned.
  • Analyzes test data to provide periodic, accurate test status reports to Management as assigned with minimal support.
  • Maintains qualifications to act as a Range Safety Officer to include passing First Aid/Trauma Management classes.
  • Maintains range certification while always handling and shooting firearms in accordance with SIG SAUER INC policy.
  • Must be able to infrequently work a varied schedule to include evenings, weekends or holidays based on customer demands or to support organizational goals.
  • Engages in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participates in and sustains 5S.
  • Must follow all required ISO procedures, comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements, and adhere to SIG SAUER, Inc. security mandates.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Miscellaneous duties as.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • Associate degree preferred, High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years in a role that generates written reports or 1+ years in a role shooting firearms in an industrial setting required.
  • Experience identifying common firearm malfunctions is required.
  • Department of Defense firearm qualifications with M4, M17, M249, and M240 preferred.
  • Pistol, rifle, and shotgun training certifications from a recognized firearms academy preferred.
  • Ability to verbally, and in written form, express ideas clearly and professionally required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and able to create and edit documents with little to no support.
  • Experience using and maintaining firearms is required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be.


Working Conditions:



  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
