ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
  • Duration: This assignment will run for approximately 5-6 Months.
  • Compensation and Benefits: $33.26 - $38.16/hr, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.
  • Work Schedule: Variable, mainly 8:00am - 5:00pm, approximately 20 hrs/week with occasional weekend/evening events.
  • Location: This position will be remote, with a hybrid option available.
DESCRIPTION

TES has a current opening for a Study Interventionist.

The incumbent will perform a full range of duties and responsibilities for research studies on women living with HIV, and individuals with syndemic or co-occurring disorders (e.g. trauma, Post-Traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders).

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide relevant training to all study staff and interventionists.

  • Help identify client eligibility.

  • Perform community outreach with stakeholders to facilitate recruitment.

  • Assist client access to medical care programs and community resources.

  • Facilitate intervention phase of study consisting of one-on-one and group psychoeducational sessions according to Good clinical practice (GCP) standards.

  • Work in conjunction with the peer navigator to facilitate sessions adapted from the evidence-based intervention Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR).

  • Mediate acute crises by means of de-escalation for participants who are triggered by study materials or discussions, provide assessments to determine if further evaluation is needed, and facilitate a warm handoff to a Licensed Clinical Therapist as necessary.

  • Participate in quality assurance and program evaluation activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, and/or Psychology or related field; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Demonstrated ability working with women living with HIV/AIDS, histories of trauma, such as physical and/or sexual abuse, and/or sexual assault.

  • Demonstrated ability in conducting bio-psychosocial assessments and providing one-on-one and group counseling to clients experiencing syndemics and co-occurring disorders.

  • Demonstrated experience providing mental health and case management services to clients with histories of trauma, PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders, as well as chronic health issues.

  • Proven ability to provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy to clients with histories of trauma, PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders, as well as chronic health issues.

  • Working knowledge of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) categories and differential diagnosis.

  • Demonstrated competency in evidence based treatments including among others cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Social Skills Training, and STAIR.

  • Demonstrated ability in conducting comprehensive clinical assessments.

  • Demonstrated experience to intervene in crisis management situations with supervision.

  • Demonstrated experience in formulating and implementing treatment and providing counseling to women with histories of trauma, PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders, as well as chronic health issues.

  • Must be willing to work with clients with HIV, HBV, HCV, TB, and/or other infections and to discuss sensitive topics with clients, such as physical and/or sexual abuse, and sexual assault.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish, preferred.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Background check and medical screening are required.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,447 - $91,454 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.26 - $43.80

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
