Assistant/Associate Professor, School of Social Work

All faculty at Georgia State are, as part of their essential job duties, expected to: (1) be physically present on-campus as needed to contribute to Georgia State's in-person educational experience, and (2) be able to teach in each of the following instructional modalities - in-person, online, or blended/hybrid - as determined by their Department Chair or Dean.

The School of Social Work offers dynamic programs in Atlanta, Georgia, and has a strong, research-driven faculty and a robust and impressive record of external funding. The School offers the BSW program (in-person and online) and the MSW program (full-time in-person, part-time online, and Advanced Standing in-person and online). Both programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education through 2028. The School houses Georgia's Title IV-E Public Child Welfare Education Program, which oversees seven social work programs that participate in Title IV-E in Georgia. The Professional Excellence Program, which is also housed in the School, provides innovative trauma-informed training and development opportunities to professionals serving children and families, including child welfare, education, healthcare, judicial, and community programs.

The School of Social Work is one of five academic units in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, which ranks in the top 15% of Public Policy Schools as rated by U.S. News & World Report. The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies is one of the nation's leading policy schools dedicated to addressing critical social and economic challenges through interdisciplinary research and policy. The school is composed of diverse academic units, including the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, Department of Economics, Department of Public Management and Policy, School of Social Work, and Urban Studies Institute. With top-ranked programs and research centers and over $35 million in sponsored research funding, the school leverages its location in downtown Atlanta to engage in significant public policy issues on local, national, and global levels. Assistant Professor: The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated research capacity, with a strong potential to secure external funding for their work. A minimum of two years of post- MSW practice experience is required. The successful candidate will bring experience in teaching. Associate Professor:The successful candidates will have established a strong research portfolio demonstrating a productive and impactful record, including publications and a history of external funding collaborations. Assistant Professor Required Experience: A minimum of two years of post- MSW practice experience is required.

Associate Professor Required Experience:Qualified candidates must have a record of scholarship and sponsored research appropriate for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.

Assistant Professor Required Education: Applicants must hold a Master of Social Work ( MSW) and a doctorate in social work or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
