Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Hospitality and Tourism program is housed within an
AACSB accredited
School of Business and offers the Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees
in a traditional setting and online. The Program is accredited by the
AccreditationCommission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (
ACPHA). |
Primary Purpose of Position |
The School of Business at North Carolina Central University invites applications
for a faculty position to serve as chef in the Department of Hospitality and
Tourism Administration. Focusing on the areas of food production and
service management, general business ; summer teaching is possible.
Educate and train students executive and management careers in the
hospitality and tourism industry. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- A degree in culinary arts and/or culinary/food production courses and several years of experience in a culinary/hospitality program or in the restaurant business.
- Master's in hospitality management or a related field.
- Strong background in food, with expertise in food production and traditional hospitality.
- Experience teaching hospitality management courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Knowledge of ACPHA accreditation standards and experience in maintaining accreditation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Teaching assignments may include but are not limited to, baking and pastry fundamentals, culinary fundamentals, protein selection, banquet & buffet, sanitation & safety, culinary math, culinary and food preparation fundamentals, purchasing and cost control, quantity food production and service, banquets and buffets and special events. Introduction to culinary/hospitality, as well as any course offered in the Culinary/Hospitality program

HADM culinary lab, scheduling maintenance, and inspection.
Ensuring the
HADM culinary lab is maintained at a level that will pass city health inspection.
Participate in Hospitality Program advisory board meetings, department activities, and departmental faculty meetings. |
