Kummer Center for STEM Education

Job Description

The Kummer Center for STEM Education is seeking Youth Development Specialist to work in the after-school program. This individual needs to be energetic and have a desire to work with kids. The YDS will supervise and mentor students and assist the Lead Teacher with the care and development of children. The YDS will focus on cultural unity and acceptance within the classroom and provide guidance and care to the children supervised. The YDC will administer childcare center policies and procedures. Other duties will include:

  • Ensure the safety of all children
  • Provide supervised care of assigned children
  • Ensure classroom setting is organized, clean, and inviting
  • Provide a positive educational and stimulating environment.
  • Uses existing procedures to solve routine problems and perform a range/variety of tasks/activities
  • Recognizes and handles atypical problems and escalates the more complex ones
  • Impacts the efficiency and accuracy of own work and begins to impact the work of others
  • Regularly exchanges information with appropriate parties internal and external parties
Shift

Monday-Friday, 3pm-6pm

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and some experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position has a flexible work schedule that allows for changes, is motivating to children and coworkers, has high energy, and has experience communicating effectively with parents and coworkers.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.00 hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. The University of Missouri provides generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions that add to your bottom line.
