Job Description

The Department of Educator Preparation & Leadership invites candidates for a 9-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August, 2025. The position is an in-person, full-time, benefit-eligible tenure track faculty position in Applied Behavior Analysis housed within the College of Education at the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL). The Applied Behavior Analysis Program (ABA) is one of the first in Missouri. The program prepares behavior analysts practicing in diverse settings in the St. Louis region and the state. The position requires teaching/advising, supervision of practice, scholarship productivity (e.g. conducting research, publishing, writing grants, etc.), service activities, and a strong commitment to cultural diversity and social justice.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in applied behavior analysis and special education programs commensurate with the faculty member's expertise (summer teaching is available).
  • Supervise students completing practica.
  • Academically advise and support master's and doctoral students.
  • Maintain an impactful research agenda.
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to collaborate with colleagues to support the institution's mission and the ABA and special education programs.
  • Demonstrate an ability to secure external grant funding.
  • Demonstrate/support the College's dedication and commitment to culturally responsive practices and social justice.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive culture in the program and college.
  • Serve on the committees at the university, college, and department level and in the community.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A completed doctorate in behavior analysis or a closely related field by appointment time.
  • A minimum of three years of applied experience.
  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence and contribution to student development.
  • Evidence of an established research agenda and sustained peer-reviewed publications.
  • Eligible or certified as a BCBA and eligible for licensure as a behavior analyst in Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising or mentoring graduate-level projects, theses, or dissertations.
  • Experience teaching behavior analysis at the graduate level.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses online.
  • Experience in collaborative curricular and program development and accreditation process.
  • Documented experience of successful teaching in higher education.
