JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We are searching for a Planner Estimator to join our Facilities Operations & Maintenance Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You will:

  • Consult with clients, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate project scope

  • Prepare estimates for projects using software and interfaces to transfer estimate data to data management systems in accounting, scheduling, and project management; prepare working folders, purchase orders, and other required information necessary for the proper execution of the work

  • Oversee coordination of projects from inception to close out and update project progress activities in project data management systems

  • Monitor and inspect the work in progress to assure that work is being performed as planned, and in compliance with safety codes and safety regulations

  • Coordinate with project supervisors and field personnel in handling constructability issues; evaluate, and determine proposed field changes and estimate change orders

  • Review and analyze design documents to develop time, cost, materials, and labor estimates

  • Encourage and seek process improvement initiatives; create efficiencies when possible

  • Supervise, hire, and evaluate of assigned staff to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems

This position will be filled at the Intermediate professional level. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's Degree and 1+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred skills/experience areas include:

  • Active government security clearance (Secret)

  • Autocad

  • Revit

  • International Building Code

Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
