JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State DuBoisis seeking a full-time staff member to serve as a StudentDisability Resources and Tutoring Services Specialist. This position supports specialized populations and assists students to fully engage in the learning process and in acclimation into the Penn State Community. The purpose of this position is to assist in the coordination of disability services and tutoring support programs for all students with a special focus on disability services. This position oversees the Penn State DuBois Center for Undergraduate Excellence (CUE) which houses the campus tutoring services, academic skills development programs, and student disability resource office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee on-site provision of services (e.g. accommodations, proctored testing, note-taking, and so forth) for students who have been approved to receive accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) for disability services; facilitate intake services for those requesting accommodations and protocols in collaboration with campus and regional partners; and support students with disabilities in their educational pursuits
  • Coordinate management and delivery of on-site tutoring services including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, supervising, and training of peer tutors; manage all HR processes for tutors;
  • Supervise and/or support academic success programs and related initiatives targeted for special populations (e.g. adult learners, athletes, international students) and to support enhancement of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in campus/university community;
  • Support delivery of academic coaching and recovery plan building for students experiencing academic difficulty;
  • Serve as member of collaborative campus team that manages referrals of at-risk students to provide holistic student support;
  • Support and assist with delivery of related academic support, engagement, and orientation activities as needed;
  • Serve on campus Student Success and Retention Team to develop programmatic evidence-based initiatives to improve student academic success outcomes.

Typical Experience:

  • A demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students and manage assigned projects is essential
  • The successful candidate should have the ability to multi-task and demonstrate a proven record of working effectively in a team environment
  • Competencies critical to success are problem-solving, professionalism, flexibility, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is required and experience working with Canvas (or other learning management systems), and student information systems is beneficial to success in the position

Qualifications:This position may be filled as a Disability Services Advisor Intermediate Professional or higher.This position requires a minimum of 1+ years relevant experience with a bachelor's degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required, as well as the following:PAState Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
