The Faculty member will support the Neurosurgery services at RWJMS and RWJBH. This position will support the Department of Neurosurgery in its clinical and academic mission.

Overview
JOB SUMMARY:
The Faculty member will support the Neurosurgery services at RWJMS and RWJBH. This position will support the Department of Neurosurgery in it's clinical and academic mission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates clinical competence and surgical excellence in neurosurgery.
2. Demonstrates factual knowledge and technical skills in the preoperative evaluation, operative management, and postoperative care of patients, including critical care, with pathologic conditions pertaining to neurosurgical care.
3. Demonstrates the knowledge and surgical experience in evolving techniques, such as endovascular procedures.
4. Maintains compliance with all applicable State, Federal, UNOS, CMS, and Joint Commission laws, rules, regulations and requirements and create policies and procedures that ensure compliance for the programs with the foregoing.
5. Surgically evaluates and treats patients who are determined to require services.
6. Rounds daily on patient(s) in accordance with best practices
7. Attends departmental and interdepartmental physician meetings, morbidity and mortality conferences, quality improvement process, selection meetings and other meetings deemed as appropriate.
8. Completes required medical documentation for patients' charts in a timely manner according to hospital bylaws. Completes and signs operative reports within 24 hours of surgery.
9. Provides accurate and detailed reports to referring physicians in a timely manner.
10. Provides accurate and complete information required for billing and coding.
11. Provides clear instructions and explanations regarding diagnosis, treatment, medications and follow-up to patients and their respective family members.
12. Collaborates with surgeons, members of the surgical team, nurses, nurse practitioners, ancillary staff and other physicians and promotes a cohesive team environment.
13. Maintains effective working relationships with attending physicians outside of the Department, as well as other Hospital department staff and Administration.
14. Respects others' time, including punctual arrival to meetings and concluding meetings as scheduled.
15. Demonstrates thorough knowledge and adherence to Hospital policies and procedures.
16. Responsible for up to 120 days per year of general neurosurgery and open vascular on-call coverage at the same time (same day), based on a schedule mutually agreeable with your department Chair and hospital's CMO.
