In the Connected Mobility Business Unit, we are at the forefront of advancing vehicle technology. From innovative solutions such as 5G to hidden antennas, we design and manufacture products that enable flawless data transfer within the next generation of autonomous and connected vehicles.
In this role you'll be an integral part of a team responsible for developing new automotive antenna products and support current product. Support mechanical characteristic testing of new and existing products. Responsible for designing VAS (Vehicle Antenna Systems) products from concept to release. Support the product development and the enhancements of new and existing automotive antennas products by designing experiments to qualify new designs and materials against customer specifications and functional parameters, optimize the design for cost and quality by conducting experiments and FEA simulations, and support troubleshooting and engineering analysis efforts on failed parts during validation testing to find root-causes and recommend design changes. What You Will Do * Lead new product development projects from concept through preparation of turnover to manufacturing. * Creation of 3D CAD data and drawings using utilizing NX CAD Software. * Select materials to meet mechanical, environmental requirements while embodying the most cost-effective solutions possible. * * Perform advanced simulation supporting design engineers with FEA structural and thermal analyses for vehicle antenna products across global sites. * Support diagnostics efforts, perform methodical troubleshooting, and recommend mitigation measures. Reduce design and tooling iterations using predictive modeling and simulation. * Analyze test results and the effect of material properties, geometry, and test conditions. * Perform analysis on automotive antenna modules including: o Utilizing FEA modeling and analysis to simulate durability tests and automotive product performance in the areas: thermal shock, thermal cycling, mechanical shock, vibration, water intrusion... etc. o Conducting Structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on different materials to examine stress distribution and confirm adequate strength under diverse load conditions. This includes analyzing plastic parts to investigate deflection and snapping characteristics, metallic sheet metal parts for conductivity and spring-back effects, as well as evaluating gaskets, sealing mechanisms, and fastening methods. o Perform assembly and tolerance analysis simulations on CAD models for assemblies. o Geometrical analysis on fastening mechanism and on assembly process * Writing reports and preparing presentations for summarizing the analysis results and reviewing all project-related analysis results for ensuring the accuracy of project reports Who You Are * Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Master's degree preferred. * 3-year experience OR 1+ year experience for Master's Degree * Experience with mechanical design utilizing UGNX modeling. * Mechanical and thermal FEA simulations using ANSYS and/or ABAQUS. * Demonstrated Mastery of a mechanics of materials including plastics and metals. What Puts you Ahead * Demonstrated understanding of most new product development processes and workflows. * Experience with Altair HyperMesh. * Works well in a Team environment and guides the team as the "expert" in a mechanical design and mechanics of materials, capable of leading a sub-team formed around the technical expertise.
