Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for an Electronic Technician II based out of Harvey, Illinois. Reporting to the Electronic Technician Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting problems with the electrical equipment, wiring and resources in the tube manufacturing operation.

The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor's degree or expert certification in an electrical field with 5+ years of electronic troubleshooting experience in an industrial environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Implement solutions to decrease production downtime, through equipment enhancement projects and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Train and mentor electronic technicians with an emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement and accomplishment of safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
  • Maintaining and troubleshoot problems with the electrical equipment, wiring and resources in the tube manufacturing operation.
  • Work with maintenance and production personnel in analyzing and troubleshooting equipment failures.
  • Assist with equipment installation.
  • Provide procedural improvements.
  • All other duties assigned by your supervisor.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing activities and promotes the plant Lean culture.


What you'll bring:



  • 5+ years of electronic troubleshooting experience in an industrial, automotive or manufacturing environment required. Tube mill or steel industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair down to component level required.
  • Knowledge in 3-phase power systems, AC/DC drives, PLC/HMI programming.
  • Knowledge in induction heating and welding equipment, flying cut-offs, Servo Drive Systems, automated packaging systems and/or robotics encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of A/B and Siemens PLC's are welcomed to apply.

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Gain an understanding of your team and areas you support.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Gain an understanding of the current training materials and procedures your team owns.
  • Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.
  • Partner with Operations Manager and Engineering to start identifying short- and long-term process improvement ideas.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Create, update, and share training materials and documentation.
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with team and operators in areas supported.
