Summary

Senior Vice President Business Development

We are seeking a highly dynamic and talented SVP Business Development to identify, pursue and grow new client businesses from the competition, or that cross multiple channels, those currently going to market direct, as well as working with the Client Services group to identify and pursue white space opportunities from existing clients. This role will have responsibility for initiating interest on behalf of the perspective clients and setting up related meetings. The incumbent will lead a team of select specialists dedicated to the completion of RFI's, RFP's, associated interview presentations and the growth of new revenue streams. This position will work in close co-operation and co-ordination of the Account/Client Services leaders and teams, and it will be an important component to the success of driving growth. Additionally, this position has responsibility for holding a team accountable, hiring, motivating, leading, and developing direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify client new business opportunities which include:
    • Clients currently doing business with the competition.
    • Clients who do not use a sales agency today.
    • Current clients with large cross-selling opportunities
  • Develop a strategy to target those perspective clients, including a comprehensive matrix of opportunities for the three opportunity groups outlined above.
  • Implement the business development plan; provide oversight to RFP completion and presentation content.
  • Coordinate support nationally with the Account Teams/CTL's and/or Sales team to gain and defend business in the event of a defensive RFP process.
  • Responsible for hiring, developing, and retaining talent using company-wide processes, tools and resources.
  • Perform regular assessments of strengths and opportunities within the team and deploy appropriate course of action to develop or manage performance.
  • Responsible for building a high performing team with complementary skill sets.
  • Execute all aspects of the performance management culture, including development discussions and creation of Individual Development Plans, regular coaching and feedback, Performance Improvement Plan creation and delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; MBA Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in sales, consumer packaged goods, and/or shopper marketing agency/ organization or equivalent
  • Proven Track record of hiring, onboarding, motivating, and developing high performing individuals and teams.
  • Good interpersonal skills: Ability to direct, lead, coach and develop people.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Extensive understanding of the CPG industry

Position Summary

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Own and Drive Revenue Growth

  • Develop a strategy to target those prospective clients, including a comprehensive matrix of opportunities for the three opportunity groups outlined above
  • Work with the various teams to implement the business development plan; provide oversight to RFP completion and presentation content
  • Coordinate support nationally with the Account, Client and/or Sales team to gain business as appropriate

People Development

  • Responsible for hiring, developing, and retaining talent using company-wide processes, tools and resources
  • Perform regular assessments of strengths and opportunities within the team and deploy appropriate course of action to develop or manage performance
  • Responsible for building a high performing team with complementary skill sets
  • Execute all aspects of the performance management culture, including development discussions and creation of Individual Development Plans, regular coaching and feedback, Performance Improvement Plan creation and delivery
  • Promotes a culture of pay for performance

Supervisory Responsibilities

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

(Preferred): MBA Degree or equivalent experience

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Field / Reps Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in a retail in-store environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: engage in considerable physical activity, ability to lift and/or push up to 74 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, use products or cook food as appropriate for the demonstration, and may be required to work in extremely cold conditions (i.e. refrigerated and freezer sections). Also required to travel and drive. The use of proper safety practices when handling the products and/or cooking is essential.
