Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, our Radiology Facilitators, under the direction of the Shift Supervisor and in consult with Radiology Technologist's and RN in Radiology and other areas, facilitate the through put of patient's in all Radiology areas in the Emergency Department, and other Radiology services areas.

Duties of the Radiology Facilitator include the following but are not limited to:



  • Review Radiological orders for need of oral contrast, blood work requirements for, and other Pre-requisites for test. See patient prior to test to identify any barriers preventing efficient performance of test. Such as, removal of jewelry, removal of street clothes. Explain test to patient & provide reasonable expectations for test.
  • Communicate with ordering Clinician as to the pending needs of the patient, labs, time for oral contrast, status of turnaround time for completion of exam, issues barriers to getting exam performed. Work with technologist in area to prioritize patients & ensure the flow of patients to the ED testing area & main Department Testing area.
  • Assist the Technologist and Nurses in transport of patient and facilitate exam in the event X-Ray Aides are otherwise assisting other patients or not available. Answer phone calls and communicate with all caregivers as to patient exam status and barriers needs.
  • Act as a resource in providing, assistance with uploading exams to Life Image and other duties associated with Life Image in the absence of File Room personal or Nursing Station Clerk. Comply with all Departmental initiatives and participate in process improvement initiatives at CQI Meetings.
  • Collect Statistical Data for Quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a professional appearance as well as an organized and clean workspace and adhere to department policies and procedures. Follows procedure area attire policy as well as hand-washing policy.
  • Required to teach appropriate hospital personnel in accordance with the guideline and teaching objectives of the department. Complete annual physical, recertification, compliance and all other required training programs when needed and as assigned.
  • Assist with transporting patients.



Qualifications

Required:



  • Associate's degree
  • At least 3 years of Radiology and/or Hospital experience with evidence of progressive advancement and organizational skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Excellent Organizational Skills
  • Must be able handle a high volume of patients and multi task
  • BLS Certification


Preferred:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).


Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $43,372 - $52,020 / year PRORATED for part time.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Some positions offer shift differentials for Night ($9,000) PRORATED for part time.
