Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for an Aviation Systems Engineer to support the Sytems Readiness Directorate (SRD). This position is based in Huntsville, AL.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Evaluate technical airworthiness data in response to published airworthiness requirements during the non-standard safety-of-flight qualification phase effort culminating in the issuance of airworthiness release (AWR) for field use.
- Evaluate technical airworthiness data in response to published airworthiness test plans, test reports, and/or other technical data during the qualification phase effort with the preparation of a position memorandum.
- Evaluate civil standards for applicability to the program, incorporate them into airworthiness requirements if needed, and participate in the evaluation of compliance with those standards.
- Analyze all available data on proposed/accepted hazards and prepare recommended airworthiness positions in support of the issuance of safety messages to include positions on potential hazards, Airworthiness Impact Statements (AWIS), Safety of Flight (SOF), and Aviation Safety Action Messages (ASAM).
- Review and provide recommended airworthiness/safety course of action for Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) issued Airworthiness Directives, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Bulletins, Amended Type Certificates, Supplemental Type Certificates, and any similar safety information.
- Participates in government and developer meetings, witnesses testing at any level to assist in the airworthiness assessment process, and makes recommendations regarding the fitness of hardware and software documentation status with respect to airworthiness.
- Attend and provide technical airworthiness recommendations at all Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings.
Required Experience:
- BS Degree and 10+ years of direct experience.
- Experience and understanding of airworthiness qualification of Army aircraft systems.
- Experience and knowledge of Army Aviation development programs.
- Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. US travel only.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical background in the integration of military weapon systems. H-60 helicopter systems and subsystems are preferred.
