About the unit

Corewell Health Adult Pulmonology located at 4100 Lake Drive in Kentwood has an opening for a full time Respiratory Therapist. This position works Monday - Friday, day shift, with no weekends or holidays. This position also includes coverage to additional Pulmonary sites as needed with 4100 Lake Drive being the primary location.

Our lung team is consistently recognized as one of the best in the nation. They and our sleep medicine specialists provide well-coordinated, multidisciplinary team-based care to ensure each patient receives the right care from the right expert at the right time. Left untreated, most lung conditions worsen over time. Thus, the earlier one receives care, the better.

With seven regional outreach clinics and our breadth of expertise, patients can receive the care they need close to home. Our service goal is to make it easy for you to coordinate our schedules so you can see multiple specialists in one visit.

About Outpatient Clinics

There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.

Scope of work

Applies scientific knowledge / therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups. Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Performs point of care testing as required Additional responsibilities of this position may include but not limited to the following: Conducting pulmonary function testing, performing weekly quality control, Performing 6 minute walks, Performing Oxygen Titration studies, Obtaining and running Arterial Blood Gas Samples, Providing inhaler/nebulizer education.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy required
  • Two years of relevant experience pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education required
  • LIC-Respiratory Therapist - State of Michigan required upon hire
  • CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - Registered Respiratory Therapist RRT NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care required upon hire
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross required within first 90 days
