Job Overview:

Oversee the implementation and management of Electronic Medical Records software within RWJ Somerset Family Practice to include: system administrative and maintenance tasks, interfacing to other clinical systems (e.g. lab test results), software configuration, data extraction and reporting. Generate educational materials and assist with training. Help clinicians use EMR to provide high level of customer care while also aiming to meet industry standards and residency requirements. Maintain communication with Corporate Information Services department.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Information Technology experience, preferably in healthcare relating to Practice Management/Electronic Medical Records application software
  • Experience with databases, forms design, Structured Query Language (SQL), report writer tools, data export/import, MS Office suite, PCs, printers/MFDs. Some programming experience, a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task on a variety of projects

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 9:00am 3:30pm
  • Monday - Friday- NO weekends required
  • Part-Time

Essential Functions:

  • Performance Standard: Oversee management and administration of EMR within SFP
  • Coordinate and/or perform EMR maintenance tasks such as EMR software updates (patches, service packs), standard updates (CPT Codes, ICD), etc.
  • Coordinate and/or perform EMR administrative tasks such as adding/removing users, password reset, processing application errors, merging duplicates, unlocking charts, etc.
  • Perform software configuration and fine-tuning of EMR. This may include items such as scheduling rules, adjusting encounter templates, encounter forms, custom letters, etc.
  • Implement, monitor and troubleshoot interfaces to external clinical systems (NJIIS, RelayHealth, Labcorp, Quest, RWJ, Qvera, eRx, etc.)
  • Communicate with EMR vendor and interface companies from a technical perspective when warranted
  • Work with EMR system tools and external utilities (if needed) to create and modify EMR reports for SFP, as well as extract EMR data on demand (support potential grants, residency initiatives, residency statistics, etc.)
  • Be knowledgeable about databases and the EMR schema.
  • Assist SFP in using EMR to try and provide necessary clinical data to achieve industry standards and quality measures (e.g. Meaningful Use).
  • Generate training documentation specific to SFP EMR implementation and functionality, including associated products, when requested.
  • Conduct and/or assist with EMR training sessions.
  • Be available to assist users with application questions and technical support.
  • Attend IS meetings when in the office.
  • Interface between SFP users and corporate IS to assist with technical issues, including computers, peripherals and software.
  • Communicate with corporate IS for requests for resources or new product needs.
  • Generate technical work orders when needed.
