Target hiring range for this position will be between be $56,782 to $70,978 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
The Admissions Manager assists with various activities related to recruiting, evaluating, and yielding candidates for admission to the law school's programs domestic and international programs. Position requires significant travel and work on evenings and weekends during the peak recruitment season; evaluates admissions applications; administers admissions interviews; assists with the financial aid process, and office record keeping/database management.
Please note: Extensive travel is required during the recruitment and yield season
Specific Responsibilities:
- File Review & Financial Aid/Scholarship
- Conduct initial file review on over 2,000 JD programs applications and 500 LLM programs applications.
- Expertise would allow for evaluation of international undergraduate and graduate law transcripts from nations around the world
- ii. Determine language proficiency through both an evaluation of standardized tests and interview results
- iii. Provide input to the Admissions Committee regarding admissions decision on each file
- Provide input to the Scholarship/Fellowship Committee regarding financial aid allocations
- Enter scholarship/fellowship awards within admissions database to maintain accuracy
- ii. Through report execution, release scholarship/fellowship award notifications to admitted students
- Conduct applicant interview evaluations
- Graduate and International Programs
- Interviews would evaluate an applicant's educational background, work experience, and English competencies
- ii. JD Programs
- Interviews would gather information about law school interest and intent, career focus, and Northwestern focus
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO)
- Obtain and maintain active DSO Status with SEVIS and DHS adhering to necessary government protocols with the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISS)
- Provide accurate information on the student visa and I-20 request process to all international admitted students across all law programs
- Counsel admitted students on the student visa process
- Maintain I-20 request data and figures accurately for all law school programs, and assist OISS with the planning and updating of programs cyclically
- Process all incoming international law student I-20 and DS-2019 requests, approximately 230 requests annually
- Collaborate with the OISS to provide international law students with university wide resources and maintaining proper student visa status
- Represent the Law School at regional, national, and international recruiting initiatives including fairs, forums, and events through positively marketing the law school
- Provide on-site information sessions, presentations, and guided tours of the Law School
- Meet with prospective applicants and applicants to provide guidance on the application process
- Assist with current student recruitment initiatives through inter-departmental collaboration
- Supervise Non-Exempt Admissions Staff
- Direct supervision of 3 full-time non-exempt admissions assistants
- Ensure quality customer service to all Office of Admissions internal and external stakeholders
- Complete Performance Excellence with all employees
- a. Integrate best practices for prospect, applicant, and admitted student data in alignment with recommendations from an outside consultant pursuant to the SFFA decision.
- b. Create and maintain data flow channels for stakeholders across the law school.
- Coordinate with LSAC and Technolutions to ensure proper database setup, permissions, and security to maintain data appropriately in alignment with federal guidance.
- Build and maintain reporting functionality within admissions databases as necessitated by federal guidance.
- Oversee the integrity of all incoming student records through work with both internal and external stakeholders, and required reporting structures
- Responsible for maintaining accurate student records across the admissions databases and CAESAR/SES
- Provide university wide system credentials for admitted students
- Complete the matriculation process for all law programs in coordination with the Law School Registrar & PeopleSoft teams
- Coordinate matriculating student file transfer from admissions to the Registrar
- Facilitate in coordination with one Admissions Assistant, the Admitted Student Experience (ASE) program to provide customized visits to the Law School for admitted students
- Assist with the planning and execution of on and off campus yield events including Admitted Students Weekend and dinners
- Assist with the Student Admissions Committee planning, programming, and event coordination.
- Coordinate the connection and matching of admitted students with law community members and stakeholders
- Technology & Database Management
- Serve as the technology coordinator and liaison for third party vendors and systems including Slate/Technolutions, ACES2/Unite, Kira Talent, CollegeNet, and Talkdesk
- Coordinate collaboration and project management of the Slate consultant through communication, organization, and implementation of Slate consultant time expenditures
- Oversee interdepartmental needs for Slate database in alignment with offices and programs across the law school
- Oversee the Online Video Interview Program
- Coordinate with Kira Talent for the setup and maintenance of all assessments
- ii. Coordinate front and back-end logistics, and coordinate the movement of applicant files through the online video interview program in coordination with admissions assistants
- In collaboration with the Assistant and Associate Deans, maintain accurate application file and review movement across file reviewers through report creation and execution, process and release applicant decisions
- Oversee the Law School involvement of the JD-MBA and JD-PhD programs application processing and record maintenance in coordination with Kellogg and The Graduate School respectively
- Facilitate the JD Deferral Program
- Serve as procurement cardholder for the office. Responsible for credit card payments as needed for the office, and reconciling transactions within NUFinancials
- Travel Arranger for guests of the office and current student fellows
- Submit requisitions for processing as needed on a backup basis
- Marketing & Communications
- Coordinate with the Law School marketing department and external vendors for design and purchase of promotional items and marketing materials
- Send communications via CRM software as needed on a backup basis
- Maintain Admissions & Financial Aid section of Law School webpage as needed on a backup basis
- Other Duties & Projects As Assigned
- Complete projects/assignments for Associate and Assistant Deans as required in support of department's primary objectives and requirements.
- Office management functions as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Admissions

- Possess initiative and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office and strong skills working with databases and spreadsheet applications.
- Possess a high level of customer service orientation and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task, works under minimal supervision, and demonstrate excellent problem solving skills.
- Valid driver's license required for travel to recruitment events
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- Availability for extensive travel, sometimes a week or more at a time
Preferred Qualifications:
- JD Degree or Bachelor's degree and 4+years
- 2-4 years work experience in an administrative capacity, preferably in a University environment.
- Familiarity with law school admissions activities and processes.

- Possesses a working knowledge and support of the ACES admissions database, PeopleSoft, and SEVIS
