Position Summary:


The Audiologist provides a full range of comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation audiology services. Provides consultative services and coordinates on an individual basis activities with outside agencies.


Qualifications:


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Doctorate in Audiology or Master's Degree in Audiology. Graduates after December 2007 must have a doctoral degree

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Audiologist License Illinois. If applicant is licensed in Audiology under the laws of another state and presents proof of application for IL licensure, they may practice for a period of 90 days from the date of application. If applicant is a new grad and presents proof of application for IL licensure, they may practice for a period of 60 days from the date of application under supervision upon hire and Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) within 1 year.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience in diagnostic audiology in a medical setting.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with others in Carle organization and with other agencies. Projects a positive image and high degree of professionalism. Communicates effectively with patients whose age range and communicative abilities vary greatly. Is self motivated and strives for personal and professional growth. Flexible work hours for ENT coverage. Early morning hours for surgical monitoring.


Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate patients with auditory and balance disorders through case history, clinical observation and diagnostic tests of auditory function.
  • Plan and participate in habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with auditory and balance disorders; evaluation and fitting of appropriate hearing aids and assistive devices.
  • Supervise, instruct and evaluate work of graduate students.
  • Provides additional rehabilitative audiological services as needed.
  • Performs diagnostic audiology evaluations
  • Performs middle ear analysis/tympanometry
  • Performs otoacoustic emissions
  • Performs hearing aid evaluations, fitting, and follow up
  • Earmold impressions for custom swim plugs, earmolds, hearing protection devices.
  • Work with patient and family on finding appropriate assistive listening devices if needed.
  • Assess for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and treat if indicated.
  • Performs cochlear implant evaluations, fitting and follow-up
  • Performs evaluation, fitting and follow up for osseointegrated hearing devices (BAHA)
