This is a great part-time stocker opportunity through Goodwill Commercial Services! The Harrison Village Commissary is located at 9702 E. 59th St., Indianapolis, IN 46216. We are looking to add stockers to our truck nights, Tuesdays and Fridays (with potentially some Saturdays). The shift is 6 PM to close (with a window of stocking time to 2 AM). and the position pays $17.20 per hour. Personal, reliable transportation is needed, as the busses do not run that late in the area. Previous, formal stocking experience is highly preferred.

This position at Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana (GCSI) is a result of the AbilityOne program in partnership with GCSI and the federal government, providing healthy operations and environments at local federal facilities. The AbilityOne program is one of the largest sources of employment in the United States for people who are blind or have significant disabilities. GCSI is one of about 500 non-profit organizations that provides employment opportunities in competitive, integrated environments at federal government locations.

The Store Worker, AbilityOne works at governmental installation providing customer service and stocking grocery items for the assigned location. This position performs Commissary related requirements including dating items, stocking shelves, and ensuring the cleanliness of the front of the store.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Assists in placing cases (staging) on the floor from the truck pallets or old overwrite areas.

  • Follows established procedures for stocking shelves, rotating merchandise, and checking for expired merchandise.

  • Stocks items from the cut case area in their assigned aisle/areas.

  • Maintains general cleanliness of the exposed shelf areas.

  • Provides high standards of customer service.

  • Faces all products in assigned row/area - labels forward, properly stacked and pulled forward.

  • Generally will stock the same aisle each shift but may be called upon to assist in other aisles as well as the frozen and chill areas.

Required Competencies

  • Hard to Very Hard Physical Work - Is able to spend time in excess of 8 hours standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and crouching. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms. Has the ability to move and lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Is able to spend time working in and out of refrigeration and freezer environments, at times below freezing temperatures.

  • Customer Focus - Has the ability to see, comprehend and relate with customers in an impartial, unbiased yet effective and balanced manner; builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the organization; provides excellent service to internal and external customers.

  • Communication Skills - Reads and comprehends two- and three-syllable words and recognizes similarities and differences between words and a series of numbers. Communicates simple sentences through both speech and written words.

  • Mathematical Aptitude - Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Is able to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Teamwork - Works well with others and makes valued contributions to the outputs of others in order to assist the team or project to achieve the required outputs.

  • Quality Standards - Has expertise in quality assurance base standards, requirements, specifications, and guidelines to ensure that products, services, and processes are of good quality and fit for purpose.

  • Visual Acuity - Has close and distance vision abilities and is able to adjust focus. Must be able to read small print in order to match the SKU of the merchandise to the proper shelf location.
