Position Description:

The Alcon team is looking for a talented and motivated intern to join us onsite for Summer 2025 at the Forth Worth, Texas, location. The intern will support formulation development activities for novel dry eye products. The products may include polymer solutions, gels, emulsions, etc.

The intern will work under supervision of a lead scientist and will participate with hypothesis setting, DOE, experimental work, and presenting the data to supervisor and the group. The intern will gain knowledge of formulation development activities, medical device / pharma industry, and ophthalmic products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to the internship, and at least one additional semester following your internship

  • Must have a graduation date of December 2025 & beyond

  • Must be pursuing a PhD degree in polymer science, polymer chemistry, colloid chemistry, biopolymers, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, or chemical engineering.

  • Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0

  • Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)

  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis. Students on an F1 visa with CPT work authorization may be accommodated

  • Ability to commit to a 10-12 weeks summer internship, full time (40 hrs./week) project

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: polymer design, polymer solutions, polymer gels, rheology, emulsions, surfactant systems, lipids.

  • Troubleshooting skills

  • Strong presentation / communication skills
