Job Overview

The Environmental Manager (EHS), under the direction of the Vice President, Environment, Health and Safety, the successful candidate will provide leadership and technical expertise on sustainable environmental performance for Hubbell facilities. This includes implementation of internal environmental policies and standards while ensuring environmental compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local regulations, domestic and international. Additionally, this position will be responsible for site remediation, environmental auditing, training and project management.

A Day In The Life

  • Knowledge of all current Federal, State and Local environmental legal requirements and track developments and/or changes
  • Manage remediation projects and reserves to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Utilizing continuous improvement strategies, perform impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce environmental risks
  • Conduct environmental auditing and ensure effective implementation of the findings
  • Evaluate operations and make recommendations to reduce, reuse and recycle materials and waste
  • Act as an internal consultant to Hubbell locations on environmental compliance and the procurement of environmental, land use and development permits
  • Coordinate and ensure that all environmental monitoring and recordkeeping is current and results are entered into the database
  • Lead and coordinate all Environmental Phase I, II and III activities
  • Lead and coordinate all site remediation activities
  • Manage and coordinate external consulting activities and budgets
  • Ability to liaise with regulators on compliance related matters to a favorable outcome
  • Train, coach and educate local EHS team members on environmental matters and responsibilities
  • Track, study and review enterprise and site level performance utilizing key performance indicator metrics

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • B.S. degree with experience in environmental science
  • Strong knowledge of Resource Recovery & Conservation Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Emergency Planning Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), etc.
  • Working knowledge of other federal & state regulations (Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
  • 10 or more years of prior EHS experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving, planning, organizational and follow-up skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Overnight travel - 50%
