GENERAL FUNCTION

The System Administrator provides operational support of the web server infrastructure to maintain optimal performance and functionality of multiple websites. This includes the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance and tuning of web servers. Additionally, the System Administrator troubleshoots server issues and provides technical support to the development team.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Install, configure, and maintain J-Boss application server software
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Support and maintain security measures to protect the server from potential threats
  • Collaborate with developers to deploy applications on the server
  • Execute the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux-based systems
  • Troubleshoot systems, providing failure analysis and recovery
  • Support system requests which include new servers, firewall changes, load balancer needs, and DNS requirements
  • Provide 24x7 Production environment support via an on-call rotation
  • Create and maintain documentation of architecture and other environmental areas
  • Interface with 3rd party vendors on technical needs and/or triaging of issues
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity processes, exercises, and documentation


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • 5+ years of demonstrated knowledge of Apache Web Server and Red Hat JBOSS
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Knowledge of core networking concepts to support troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated skill in collaborating professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to maintain a successful work environment
  • Proficient at Microsoft office products


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Proficiency in Linux shell
  • Basic understanding of Oracle, SQL Server, or equivalent database technology
  • Ability to read application logs (primarily Java)
  • Scripting or programming skills
  • Experience working with monitoring and management tools such as Dynatrace or RHQ
  • Insurance industry knowledge

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
