Medical Assistant - Medical Receptionist - Pediatrics Lutherville, MD MUST: Experienced Medical Assistant - Pediatrics Must be Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant Must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant experience Must have experience working in a physician's medical practice, Pediatrics preferred Must have EMR Experience - EPIC preferred Must have experience handling patient calls Must have experience taking patient vitals Must have experience scheduling appointments DUTIES: Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patients chart Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.) Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed All other duties as assigned by clinical coordinator or practice administrator Quadrant, Inc. is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
