Medical Center: UH: Clinical Lab- (Full-Time, Day Shift) - Job Summary: The Director-Laboratory leads the operation of a division of the Laboratory (e.g., Customer Support, Preanalytic Hub, Analytic Hub, Loma Linda Environs, Murrieta Environs). In conjunction with the Medical Director and senior Laboratory management and the approved Strategic Plan, formulates goals, sets priorities, assigns responsibilities and establishes timelines for the Laboratory division. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field is required. Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Six years of relevant experience in high complexity, computerized clinical laboratory as licensed CLS required with Bachelor's degree. Four years of experience required with Master's degree. One year of supervisory or Clinical Lab Scientist Lead experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Possesses excellent dexterity and analytic skills. Ability to operate technical instruments and equipment. Ability to use available resource material independently to resolve and document challenges. Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships with all customers (staff, patients, vendors). Provides staff and management with timely information, constructive and actionable feedback. Inspires staff with enthusiasm for the strategic plan. Fosters cooperation and collaboration, actively solicits opinions from others. Able to analyze and interpret data, assess and evaluate processes and needs. Self-motivated and works well with minimal direction. Articulates logical and well-founded arguments that support conclusions. Demonstrates increasing responsibility and leadership. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position. Licensures and Certifications: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required. Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS (BOR) or Medical Technologist MT (ASCP) preferred.
