If you are graduating with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, science, or related quantitative field and want to work in critical infrastructure protection, we would love to have you join our team!

We are seeking a Cyber Software Engineer, a Cyber Security Engineer, a Decision Scientist, and an Aviation Safety and Security Analyst to join the Critical Infrastructure Protection Group to help us create game-changing capabilities that enable U.S. infrastructure to be robust in the face of complex threats and determined adversaries. APL's Critical Infrastructure Protection Group is a team of engineers and scientists designing, building, hacking, destroying, and inventing to advance the state of the art in responding to evolving threats. Our group's work protects U.S. citizens on a daily basis, keeping them safe as they fly in our national airspace, and ensuring resources such as water and power are delivered continuously. As a member of our team, you will have access to, and the ability to shape, premier research facilities such as our CYPRESS Laboratory, which enables laboratory developed capabilities to become deployed solutions in real-world, operational facilities.

As a member of our team...

  • Your primary responsibility will be conducting research and development to advance state of the art for cyber-physical systems to be self-aware, self-organizing, self-healing, and self-optimizing. Key research areas include assurance, digital twins, and decision science.
  • You will create game-changing capabilities that enable U.S. infrastructure to be robust in the face of complex threats and determined adversaries.
  • You will collaborate with mission owners to understand their challenges and what it means to be successful.
  • You will have a say in the projects you are a part of and contribute to what matters to you.
  • You will test cyber solutions on hardware testbeds representing critical infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you

  • Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, science, or related quantitative field
  • Have strong programming skills and experience with scripting languages.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and aptitude for working with cross-functional teams.
  • Have an innovative mentality with an ability to transform research into applied solutions
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
