We seeking an innovative and strategic Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the company's technological initiatives and drive our digital transformation efforts. The CTO will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our technology platforms, ensuring the scalability, security, and efficiency of our IT infrastructure. This executive will oversee the design, development, and implementation of all IT systems and platforms, aligning them with the company's business goals to enhance operational efficiencies in claims, health operations, and client services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT leadership within the healthcare or insurance sectors, with a deep understanding of TPA operations, healthcare claims processing, and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy & Leadership:
    • Develop and implement the company's technology vision, strategy, and roadmap.
    • Align IT and digital transformation strategies with the company's business objectives, driving innovation and operational efficiencies.
    • Lead the architecture, design, and development of core systems related to claims processing, client management, and data security.
  • IT Infrastructure & Security:
    • Oversee the management and scalability of the company's IT infrastructure, ensuring data security, HIPAA compliance, and system integrity.
    • Implement and manage cybersecurity protocols to safeguard sensitive patient and client information.
    • Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage technology contracts for IT services, software development, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Build and lead a high-performing technology team, including software engineers, IT specialists, and data scientists.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the technology department.
    • Ensure that technology staff are equipped with the skills and resources necessary to meet evolving industry standards and demands.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation:
    • Spearhead technology-driven process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize claims processing and client service workflows.
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in healthcare IT, insurance, and third-party administration.
    • Lead initiatives that incorporate AI, machine learning, and automation into operations, improving decision-making and operational agility.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate closely with the executive team to ensure technology investments align with overall company goals.
    • Partner with operations, claims, and client services teams to ensure seamless integration of technology solutions with business functions.
    • Engage with external stakeholders, including clients, regulators, and vendors, to ensure technology solutions meet industry standards and client expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in an executive role within healthcare, insurance, or TPA organizations.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale technology projects, including enterprise system implementation, data security, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and data privacy laws.
  • Experience with cloud computing, enterprise software solutions, claims processing systems, and cybersecurity strategies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing relationships with external vendors and technology providers.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;
  • other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
