The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work on all regulatory aspects of clinical trials related to the IRB, FDA, NIH, DoD and other regulatory bodies (as necessary for the clinical trial in question). The selected candidate will be responsible for study recruitment efforts, scheduling and managing study visits, interacting with the research pharmacy and handling study medications. They will be responsible for documenting protocol deviations, violations, exceptions, adverse and other events per regulatory requirements. Additional responsibilities include data collection and entry, managing study samples (pick up, storage, shipping, inventory), and conducting data analysis when necessary. The selected candidate is expected to attend lab meetings, follow through on action items, and maintain clear and timely communication with lab staff and investigators. They will also mentor and train newly hired research staff, as well as undergraduate, graduate, and medical students working in the lab for academic credit. The Postdoctoral Research Associate is expected to write and submit abstracts to annual meetings and work on research manuscripts and presentations as needed. Furthermore, they are expected to engage in Pediatric and Endocrine Grand Rounds, Pediatric and Adult Endocrine conferences at UVA and attend select regional or national conferences as determined appropriate by the lab PI. Minimum Requirements: Doctoral degree Preferred Qualifications: The candidate should have (i) at least 1-2 years of research experience, ideally in clinical research, (ii) basic knowledge of biostatistics and familiarity with R, JMP or STATA. This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University.
