Summary

Conducts independent audits, assessments, and advisory engagements to assist the organization in accomplishing its objectives by incorporating a systemic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the eectiveness of NYPA's governance, risk management, and internal controls. This includes audit processes designed to provide reasonable assurance regarding the eectiveness and eciency of operations, reliability of nancial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. These engagements include audits of business operations, nancial and compliance processes and activities, technology systems, infrastructure and cyber security and strategic and transformational initiatives. Supports audit reporting for external auditors, regulatory authorities, and joint venture partners.

Conducts internal audits of business operations, nancial and compliance processes and activities, and strategic initiatives. Prepares and presents audit observations and recommendations to organization and/or business unit management. Evaluates nancial controls and ensures compliance with the organization's nance and accounting standards. Monitors remediation of controls issues identied from audits until closure, reports on risk mitigation.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct internal audit activities within the organization, including providing independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the organization's operations.
  • Evaluate key risks and internal controls, develop and/or review audit programs/risk & control matrices, benchmark nancial and operational processes and controls, and participate in annual risk assessment activities.
  • Perform testing procedures such as detailed tests of controls including sampling/condence levels and analytical procedures, to address risks identied.
  • Lead the drafting of internal audit reports and identify/document audit observations, root causes, risk/exposure, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Create high quality deliverables, document audit work performed and results by preparing work papers, narratives, and ow charts for audit areas in scope.
  • Collaborate directly with clients and the internal audit team. Participate in client discussions and meetings and identify client concerns.
  • Coach, mentor and review work papers for auditors and interns.
  • Remain current on business and utility industry trends and NYPA-related strategic initiatives and share with the team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of COSO, GAAP, FERC, FASB and IIA standards, and/or basic understanding of IT general controls.
  • Ability to plan, organize, manage time and deadlines, and execute assignments.
  • Ability to acquire, analyze and interpret large volumes of data to identify potential audit observations and develop practical recommendations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Education, Experience and Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 4 years audit or related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements

Up to 20% travel primarily within New York State.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $$95,440 - $125,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
