Patient Safety Coordinator

Position Summary:


The Patient Safety Coordinator is primarily responsible for analyzing reported incident information, providing feedback to members and assisting them in identifying and addressing areas of improvement. Serves as a member resource on quality and patient safety matters. Assists members in the development of their patient safety evaluation systems. Develops and presents reports, educational, and resource materials.


Qualifications:


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Illinois upon hire and Basic Certificate in Quality & Safety (IHI) within 2 years.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years of Nursing experience


Essential Functions:

  • Reviews incoming reports of events and near misses to identify patterns, trends, potential system lessons, as well as to determine whether immediate follow-up is required with reporting personnel or departments.
  • Reviews and analyzes aggregate data to determine need for patient safety initiatives or recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Assists with facilitation of RCA and ACA processes.
  • Provide direct support to the Patient Safety Officer related to data analysis, research, facility communication and/or other support services as requested.
  • Conducts reviews of anonymous reports from healthcare workers as needed.
  • Develops training materials and supports patient safety educational sessions as necessary.
  • Serves on organization committees as assigned
  • Serves on the Patient Safety related committees (such as, Risk/Quality, Hospital Quality, others)
  • Assist with educational programs regarding principles of quality, safety and performance improvement.
