Job Overview

The Transportation Load Planner is a key role responsible for optimizing the planning, releasing, and scheduling of customer shipments using advanced tools such as SAP ERP and MercuryGate TMS. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient utilization of load capacity, cost minimization, and adherence to customer timelines, surpassing expectations where possible. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our logistics operations run smoothly and efficiently, directly impacting our ability to serve customers effectively and maintain competitive advantage. A Day In The Life

Plan and coordinate customer and inter-company shipments ensuring service standards and schedule requirements are met

Manage the release of daily activities to the warehouse floor, ensuring a balanced workload.

Analyze material allocations to optimize freight capacity.

Provide clear concise instructions and notes to warehouse staff and carriers to convey customer requirements.

Collaborate closely with customer service to fulfill service requests effectively.

Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, Sr. Distribution Manager, and Freight Fulfillment Manager, select the most cost-effective and efficient carrier or mode of transportation per shipment.

Maintain proactive communication with carriers to optimize logistical processes.

Liaise with third-party providers to align service delivery with customer expectations.

Recommend process/system enhancements to improve service performance.

Offer support for SAP, MercuryGate TMS, and other systems by troubleshooting operational and technical issues that impact shipment processes.

Provide on-call support after hours during emergencies or severe weather conditions.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Freight Fulfillment Manager.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in transportation or distribution environment.
  • Proficiency in MercuryGate TMS is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with SAP or other transportation management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Highly motivated with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with a capacity to think strategically.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing environments and demands.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (less than 10%).
