Job Description

Dr. Paul de Figueiredo's lab is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Research Scientist candidate who is interested in using microbes to combat cancer and autoimmune disease in humans. Our goal ... to build an inexpensive and safe therapeutic using bacteria that can recruit and regulate tumor-targeting immune cells to help the body fight cancer cells without the side effects of traditional medications. Alongside the University of Missouri's excellent research infrastructure to support these lines of investigation, our research endeavors primary focus on experiments related to microbe-influenced corrosion in lab mice colonies.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to:

Apply state-of-the-art molecular, immunological, cell biological, microbiological, and scRNA-seq techniques to elucidate fundamental issues in host-pathogen interactions, human disease, and environmental microbiology.
Work independently to pursue highly interdisciplinary, collaborative, and fast-paced projects.
Mentor trainees in the lab, including undergraduates, grad students, and postdocs.
Abide by and follow University and lab safety and compliance guidelines.
Manage collaborative interactions with scientists at MU and other institutions.

A recent PhD or MD, and an excellent track record of peer-reviewed publications, are required. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $75,000 per year
Grade: GGS 010
