JOB MISSION:

The Sr. Manager Network Services, will work as part of IT Global Network Services, leading a team of engineers to design, implement and support scalable, secure network infrastructure across the enterprise. The Sr. Manager will plan and implement new network technology, upgrades, and refreshes into NB's global data network (LAN, MAN, WAN, Internet, Remote Access, VPNs, WiFi).

General directives include [1] building up the staff capabilities and processes to support the growth of New Balance, [2] standardizing and globalizing the network infrastructure and [3] organizing and managing the team to improve operational excellence.

The ideal candidate has an equal balance of people, project, and technical skills in order to successfully implement a large portfolio of project work. The manager thrives on organizing a team and delivering results in a matrixed environment.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversee the implementation and operations of company LANs, WANs, trust zone architectures, wireless networks, internet access, 3rd party access, cloud service provider connectivity and VPN solutions.
  • Build and manage project budgets, help to set up a network operations tower within the overall network team; train and empower junior engineers to become capable of providing tier 1 and 2 support.
  • Participate in efforts to evaluate and select technology solutions and gain organizational commitment for high-level network infrastructure plans.
  • Navigate a matrixed, large environment to deliver projects within a fast-paced environment on time and within budget; remove technical and non-technical roadblocks for the team.
  • Develop the engineers' capabilities and motivate them to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Set up and enforce industry best practices around network ops support.
  • Participate in the creation of policies, procedures, and staff development plans.
  • Consult peer groups, business units and corporate stakeholders in the development of project plans & architectures.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • College degree in the field of Telecommunications, IT Management, Computer Science or Business, or equivalent experience.
  • Past or present certifications in Switching/Routing, Security and/or Cloud or equivalent experience.
  • Building or supporting world-class, large-scale data networks for global entities that balance security, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness objectives.
  • 7+ years in a multinational enterprise environment that operates 7x24 services to a multitude of customers and business units.
  • At least 4 of those 7 years directly or indirectly leading technical staff in a network or IT infrastructure engineering team.
  • Negotiating global telecom or network service provider contracts (preferred), experience building networks in warehouse and manufacturing is preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of network engineering concepts & technologies including switching, routing, VPN, remote access and network security and wireless technology, current-era data center network design (both internal data centers and cloud service provider environments).
  • Familiarity with cloud security solutions such as Prisma, Zscaler, SASE concepts.
  • Working knowledgeof routing protocols BGP, IS-IS and OSPF, MPLS label switching and MP-BGP routing.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/MAN/WAN topologies & platforms, routing protocols, current data center architectures, DNS/DHCP, IPAM, multicast, VRF, QoS, and layer 2 segmentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate at various levels with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to delegate work to staff while coaching them and otherwise ensuring successful delivery on commitments.
  • Solid project & program management skills. Ability to synthesize and communicate a clear plan forward from ambiguous or competing objectives.

Flexible Work Schedule

Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
