Job Summary:

The Wong lab located in the Department of Pathology on the Chicago campus is seeking an experienced Senior Research Technologist to drive independent science and operational activities in a hematology and cancer research lab. Our lab uses a range of cell biology and genetic tools to study how mutations in common leukemia-causing genes alter hematopoietic stem cell behavior and converge on key inflammatory pathways to affect hematologic malignancy. The successful applicant will work closely with the PI to design and perform complex experiments, optimize laboratory functions, and interface with a variety of research stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific and technical expertise in cell biology and animal-based experiments.
  • Identify scientific goals and design experiments for specific projects.
  • Budget and audit lab finances.
  • Train and supervise laboratory personnel.
  • Acquire and maintain laboratory research compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in a STEM field.
  • 3-4 years of laboratory research and animal experience.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory or project management experience.

Preferred Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $27.06-$33.52 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
