The Senior Manager of Community Outreach and Engagement provides leadership and direction for the development, coordination and implementation of the Alzheimer's Association's strategic and operational plans in the East Bay and San Francisco areas and provide operational functions of the Emeryville Office. Working in conjunction with functional Chapter leads, the Senior Manager ensures the plans and goals for development, care and support and advocacy work are successfully implemented and achieved. This position also manages the Alzheimer's Association community engagement and program strategies to meet and exceed strategic measures and manage all designated grants in the East Bay region (Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano Counties).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

COMMUNITY OUTREACH, ENGAGEMENT AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (70%)



  • In partnership with Senior Regional Director and Chief Program Officer, responsible for planning and implementing programs and services with priority to volunteer delivery of the Alzheimer's Association core programs
  • Measure East Bay mission delivery and progress towards Care and Support strategic implementation plan objectives
  • Responsible for managing the volunteer community educators and community representatives to support and expand programs and services
  • Responsible for overseeing the East Bay government grants programs, including grant reporting, audits, metrics, delivery and grant writing
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate and develop relationships with health and community organizations to promote awareness of the Alzheimer's Association and our mission to diverse communities
  • Work with staff and volunteers to support and grow participation in core programs and all of our strategic initiatives


FULL MISSION ENGAGEMENT (10%)



  • Working in partnership with all pillars of the Association to collaborate and advance our mission
  • Provide leadership and support to the Association's signature fundraisers, the Walk to End Alzheimer's and The Longest Day to expand revenue, build relationships with leadership volunteers and corporate sponsors and increase public awareness
  • Work with the Chapter Development Team to identify prospects and cultivate new donors from individuals, foundations and corporations
  • Work with Director of Public Policy and Advocacy to respond to local, state and national public policy needs and ensure accomplishment of strategic plan objectives related to advocacy
  • Provide leadership to the Communications Department as local spokesperson and increase local and regional publicity about the organization, Alzheimer's disease and our mission


OFFICE ADMINISTRATION (20%)



  • Supervise the East Bay Program Staff and volunteers
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Emeryville regional office working closely with the Chapter's Senior Regional Director and Operations Manager to ensure local compliance with Chapter policies and procedures
  • Manage special events and trainings for staff in the Emeryville office
  • Works with Finance Department to process invoices and donations
  • Monitor local office activities to keep expenses and revenues consistent with budget


CULTURE OF COLLABORATION



  • Fully engage in a culture where team collaboration is more highly valued than individual Achievement
  • Support efforts and participate in Walk to End Alzheimer's staff team and personal fundraising goals
  • Work at least two weekends in the fall for the Walk to End Alzheimer's
  • Respond to public policy calls to action and participate in advocacy days
  • Enhance our culture of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the job


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES



  • Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse communities
  • Working knowledge about dementia and family caregiver issues
  • Strong public speaking skills required
  • Comfort with asking for donations and volunteer time and expertise
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • 3-5 years government grants experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in recruiting, retaining and leading productive staff and volunteers


PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:



  • Self-starter, independent worker and willing to take initiative
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Willingness to drive throughout the Chapter territory as necessary
  • Current Automobile Liability Insurance, reliable vehicle, and valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds

STATUS: full time, exempt based on 37.5 hours per week minimum

GRADE: 407 Hiring range: $80,000 - $83,000
